The LoreCrafted Anvil »
HomePage
Welcome to the LoreCrafted Anvil, the place where I hammer on various new lore concepts and ideas that sprout from the confines of my overstuffed brain. Here you will find concept work based upon WarCraft's lore and fiction; ideas that I believe are worth expressing. These are not official canon, however. These are pure fan creations.
There have been many times during LoreCrafted's
on-again-off-again lifetime that I've wanted to express my own thoughts and designs when it came to lore. This usually manifested by way of short fiction and future speculation. Sometimes I even included my own artwork. I always believed, however, that the stuff felt out of place on LoreCrafted's main page.
As I was attending BlizzCon
2011, I was able to briefly speak with Sean Copeland, one of the lore historians at Blizzard
. When I asked him if we would ever see a story about a particular lore subject near to my heart, he lightly suggested that I go ahead and write it myself and post it to the Story forums
. Well, Sean, I've taken that suggestion and run with it.
I planned to launch a personal portfolio site that could cover properties outside of just WarCraft. However, I know myself well enough to realize that I can easily spread myself too thin. So the Anvil became the new and more focused foundation for that portfolio. It's here where I'll put my WarCraft concept art, designs, fiction, and other such "proof of work" ideas as I shape them to their final forms.
It should go without saying that the contents of the Anvil are completely non-canon. They are works of a dedicated and passionate fan whose skills cross over into many disciplines. But make no mistake, the stuff here isn't official by any capacity. It's a collection of ideas, both old and new, and a place where people can hopefully be inspired by my creative process just as I was inspired by Blizzard's.
Originally, the Anvil was to be a wiki for World of WarCraft roleplay concepts and characters. It was to be a place where RPers who create longform story arcs on their servers could go to post their content and allow others to reuse them, very much like an old school D&D module.
But it was difficult to get enough pre-launch interest to fill out enough content to make the plan worthwhile. And I had learned that the most active roleplaying communities have their own sites to facilitate their storytelling. So I switched gears.
So for those of you who knew of the Anvil before its launch: it serves a slightly different purpose now. Certainly, if you see something you like, you can still take that idea and use it in your own RP campaigns.
The primary LoreCrafted site will remain largely unchanged in terms of purpose. I'll still write my lore articles and discussions there. However, I'll also post when I add something new to the Anvil. There will be some overlap of content when I feel it necessary, too.
LoreCrafted is about lore discussion, news, reviews, and education. LoreCrafted's Anvil is about creativity, new ideas, and speculative thinking.
LoreCrafted's name has always suggested that its content be heavily influenced, crafted, if you will, from the lore of the game. The Anvil helps me bring a greater weight to that idea.

What is the Anvil?

What WAS the Anvil?

How does this fit with the main LoreCrafted site?
The primary LoreCrafted site will remain largely unchanged in terms of purpose. I'll still write my lore articles and discussions there. However, I'll also post when I add something new to the Anvil. There will be some overlap of content when I feel it necessary, too.
